The mission of a Toastmaster club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop leadership and oral communication skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. The Dye-Hard Toastmasters Club is no exception to this rule. We are a diverse group of individuals who realize the value that superior presentation skills and enhanced leadership skills are to increasing your marketable even in a weak economy. Our members are business leaders, engineers, entrepreneurs, and people who simply believe in self-improvement.

Today, the Dye-Hard Toastmaster Club recognizes that presentation skills are very similar to sporting skills. Tiger Woods probably did not sink his first 10 foot putt on a green. However, after years of practice, evaluation, and feedback he is one of the greatest golfers in the world.

Toastmasters is very similar. A new member to Toastmasters begins his/her experience by presenting an “Icebreaker”. The easiest/ hardest experience a new member encounters. The easiest because it is a four to six minute presentation about a subject he/she is an expert about (themselves). The difficulty is you have to present it.

Members learn how to give positive evaluations. They learn to actively listen, to make presentations within time constraints, to minimize distracting body language and annoying ums and ahs. They also learn how to lead productive business meetings. These skills are developed in a positive, friendly, atmosphere designed to make the individual feel at ease and relaxed.
